Yoga Classes

 

The Journey to Wholeness Center offers daily Yoga Classes to help center and balance Mind, Body and Spirit. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root Yuj which means to "unite, bind, join or integrate".  Yoga harmonizes the body with the mind and breath through means of various breathing techniques, yoga postures (Asanas) and meditation. The Journey to Wholeness Center offers a wide range of Yoga classes to fit all students from beginners to more advanced. Sunrise Yoga - Join us on the mat bright and early for an energetic session that will jump start your day. Gradually begin your practice with deep centering and warm up the mind and body with a lovely energetic flow that will ground and support your intentions for an amazing day. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Morning Hatha Yoga - Center and set your intention for a magnificent day. This class focuses on the basic principles of breath, alignment and technique, while slowly lengthening and strengthening the body with the use of props. We emphasize lengthening the hamstrings, hips, shoulders and spine, with focus on the standing poses to create enough energy to get you through the day. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Restorative/Yin Yoga - Designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind. It stimulates deep relaxation while rejuvenating the body. We use props to support the postures, while gently stretching and strengthening the body. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Beginners Yoga - This class is designed for beginners. It will introduce the student to the basic principles of breathing, alignment and technique, while slowly lengthening and strengthening the body with the use of props. We focus on basic poses that will deepen and lengthen the hamstrings, hips, shoulders and spine. This class will introduce body and breath awareness.

Evening Hatha Yoga - Leverage this class to release all the stress and anxiety from the day. Leave it all on the mat. This class will focus on gentle postures to help quiet your mind, open your chest and hips, and lengthen your spine, allowing space for energy to flow freely through your body washing away built up heaviness, stress and anxiety. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga - This class incorporates an eclectic mix of core work, breath awareness, yogic philosophy, and vinyasa flow - a moving meditation to access the mind-body-spirit connection and to energize and enliven the body. The flow of the breath drives the movement in each asana. This class is for students who have had some prior experience of yoga.

Mommy/Daddy & Me Yoga -  Join us for some family Yoga! This is a beginner's class to introduce the entire family to the benefits of Yoga.  Children are welcome to join you on the mat for some basic yoga. Don't worry if they don't have a mat. We have plenty! Children ages 5 and up are welcome to attend this great family after school activity. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.
